The wreath is one of the oldest holiday decorations, and a personal favorite of the team here at Happy Holiday. But where do you begin if you want to install one on your house? You can always call the best holiday lighting company in the business, but if that does not fit your budget this year here is a handy guide that will show you the various ways to install a wreath.
Over the Door Hangers
The most common way to hang up wreaths is with over the door hangers that don’t get drilled into the door. You simply attach the clip to the top of the door. The hanger itself can be made out of a variety of materials. Our favorites are the stiff ones. These can be adjusted to the height you need.
It would be best to pick a hanger that blends in with the color of your door. That way, it doesn’t draw any attention away from the wreath itself. One thing to keep in mind when picking a wreath hanger is how thick the top of it is. If it’s too thick, it might make it difficult to close your door fully.
Stuck to the Door
If the surface of your door is smooth enough, you can even use a simple command hook to hang one up. Be careful when buying one, since they have different weight limits. This is the easiest method, but not the most sturdy.
If you have a metal door, like steel, you can simply place a magnet on it to hang the wreath. With a strong enough magnet, you can place a thin layer of felt between the door and the magnet so there is no damage to the door.
Glass
If you have a glass door you can still hang up a wreath. Suction cups are an easy way to hang up wreaths on a glass door. Make sure you pick cups that are strong enough to hold up the weight of the wreath you’d like to hang.
Brick Walls
Want to hang up a wreath on a brick wall? You don’t have to drill into it to do so. A brick clip will allow you to hang and remove things from your brick wall without leaving any unwanted marks behind. You’ll only need one or two clips. If you want to hammer into a brick wall you can use masonry bits and screws to drill into the mortar between the bricks. Don’t try drilling into the actual bricks.
Nails
If you have a wooden door, you can use simple nails and a string to hang up your wreath. It’s fast to set up. If you want to remove the mail later, you can use putty and paint over the hole.
As you can see, there are a ton of interesting ways to hang up your wreath, no matter what door you have or the material of the wall you’d like to hang it on. Don’t be afraid to get creative and try new things.
